What is the difference between a database and a web site?

The Library purchases over 30 online resources to provide you with reliable information for your research. Known as databases, they include journal articles, magazines, newspapers, biographies and other research aids that are unavailable for free on the Internet. On the other hand, web sites can be written by anyone and may not be fact checked. You should look carefully and evaluate whether the information on a web site is true or not.
