Renew Checked-out Materials
How do I renew my items?
You are welcome to visit any of our branch locations during open hours for help renewing your checkouts. However, you can also renew items online, in our mobile app, or by phone. eBooks and eAudiobooks can only be renewed via the OverDrive website or Libby app.
To renew items online:
- Go to My Account in the online Library catalog.
- Log in with your barcode number and PIN.
- Click on the Checkouts tab. A list of all the items checked out on your account will appear.
- In "Library Checkouts" click on the box(es) next to the item(s) you would like to renew.
- Then, click on the "Renew" button (located at the top and bottom of the list of checkouts).
- If a renewal is allowed, the new due date will appear in the "Date Due" column.
To renew items from the Library (ValleyCat) mobile app:
- Click on "My Account" to view or renew items.
- To renew an item, tap on it, then tap the green "Renew" bar. (It will let you know if renewal isn't available.)
To renew items by phone:
- Call the TeleCirc automated phone service: 559-444-0412 or toll-free: 866-290-8681
- Call any Library location.
Please note: You need your Library card number and PIN to renew online or through TeleCirc. You will also need your library card if you call or visit one of our branch locations to renew.
Can I keep items past the due date?
- Most items can be renewed twice.
- The renewal period is the same length as the original loan period for the item. The new due date is set based on the day you renew the item - not from the original due date.
- Please note that some types of items cannot be renewed, including:
- Items that are already overdue or have been requested by another person
- Interlibrary Loans and other special materials
- Collections of very popular materials and new releases cannot be renewed.
