State Parks Pass

California State Parks Passes are now available for check out!

In partnership with the First Partner's Office and the California State Library, State Parks is providing free vehicle day-use passes to over 200 participating state park units to library-card holders across California.

Fresno County Public Library is excited to make these passes available locally, so that our library users can more easily visit our beautiful State Parks.

California State Parks provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation.

What can the pass be used for?
  • State Park passes provide free vehicle day-use at more than 200 state park units throughout California.
  • The pass is valid for entry of one passenger vehicle with capacity of no more than nine people, or one highway-licensed motorcycle.
  • The pass is not valid for any other fees, including camping or group-use fees, special events, tours, additional vehicle fees, etc.
  • The pass does not guarantee a parking space or priority admission.
  • The pass will not be honored at any parks operated by the federal or local government, so it's important to check the list of eligible and ineligible parks before planning your trip. (Yosemite National Park, for example, is not a state park, so this pass can not be used for entrance there.) Complete list of eligible and ineligible parks.

How to check out and return a pass:
  • You will need an FCPL library card if you do not already have one. Library cards are free and available at your local branch.
  • Option 1: Reserve a pass through the catalog by searching for "California State Park Pass". Click on "Place Hold" to request the pass. You will be notified when the pass is available for you to pick up at the branch location you selected. Passes will be held for you at the desk.
  • Option 2: Your branch may have a "Lucky Day" pass, available for check-out on a first-come, first-served basis. Ask your branch staff if any Lucky Day passes are available. These passes cannot be held for you by phone.
  • All passes check out for a maximum of three weeks and cannot be renewed. Overdue passes will be deactivated.
  • Please return them inside the branch if possible so that we can make them available for the next library user.
  • Report any lost passes to your local library so that we can replace them quickly.
