California History & Genealogy Room

The California History & Genealogy Room will be closed from May 6th to June 16th. During the Room's renovation, selected Haines and Polk Directories will be available on the first floor of the Central Library at Information Services. In addition, selected microfilm of the Fresno Morning Republican, Fresno City Directories prior to 1930 and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps will also be available. Staff will answer questions and obituary requests via phone at 559-600-6230 and email, but complex research inquiries may be deferred until access to the entire collection becomes available. The Room will reopen June 17th at 10 a.m.

The California History and Genealogy Room was created in 1993 as a cooperative effort of the Fresno County Public Library and the Fresno County Genealogical Society. Total holdings consist of approximately 30,000 books and pamphlets, 5,000 microforms, 300 CD-ROMs, and many other types of research materials.
