2011 Volunteer Reception

On Sunday March 13, 2011 Volunteers and Friends of the Library were recognized and honored by at an event called ”The Gift of Giving.”

These 908 volunteers are middle and high school youth, college students, adults, seniors, families, service groups and members of the Friends of the Fresno County  Public Library providing 28 branches with 39,287 hours of service.

The gift of dedicated volunteers sharing knowledge contributes to library customers having meaningful experiences in the library. This very special volunteer corps serves as readers to children and helps make the library more accessible and attractive for teens. They also tutor adults in English, inspect talking books, repair book machines, assist customers in local history and genealogy, shelve books, help with special programs, fundraise and advocate on behalf of the library in the community.

All members of the Fresno County Public Library staff recognize that all volunteers are truly friends of library service and convey a very special thank you for the time they share and the heart they show helping the Library.
