Where Can I Get Tax Forms?
Q: Where Can I Get Tax Forms?
A:
The Fresno County Library provides the most
commonly used individual income tax forms and instructions for patrons
for pick-up, as well as on-line access
for other, less requested forms.
Q: What forms can I pick up free at the Library?
A: Our branches
generally make available paper copies of the most commonly needed forms
and instructions
for both Federal and State of California taxes. Because of limited
supplies and the difficulty of getting replacements, we ask that individuals
take
not more than 2 sets of tax forms/instructions.
Q: What forms are usually NOT available to pick up free?
A:
Because of the
format, multiple part forms such as 1099's and many small business forms
are not available at branches. Patrons can order
forms by telephone to be delivered to their homes, or may wish to visit
the IRS
office in NW Fresno for more specialized forms and instructions for Federal
taxes and/or visit the State Franchise Tax Board near the Central Library
for California forms/instructions. Federal forms are available from the
local IRS office 5104 N. Blythe, Fresno 93722 from 8:30 to 4:30 pm M-F.
Telephone assistance is toll-free 1-800-829-1040. The Franchise Tax Board
(State forms) is located at 2550 Mariposa Mall, Suite 3002 Fresno, CA
93721-2272 .Toll-free assistance is available from 1-800-352-5711.
Q: Can I get Tax forms electronically?
A:
The Library web page of frequently
used sites has links to forms/instructions under Useful websites:http://www.fresnolibrary.org/ref/tax.html.
This site also provide links to other states tax forms. Not all states have
electronic
links, but usually there is an address to order forms.
Q: Can I get prior year forms/Instructions at the Library?
A: Central and some Regional branches keep some paper copies for most
commonly used forms for the previous tax year. There are also copies
of collected forms in books called Package X that are available for
photocopying for the standard per-page charge of 10cents. The Central
Branch also holds some CD's which have collections of prior tax
forms which can be printed. Some prior year forms are also available
on the IRS website.
Q: Can I get help filling out my tax forms at the Library?
A: In recent years
the IRS VITA program has provided help for the public in filling out
tax forms. Vita volunteers are available at some branch libraries
for several hours-usually one day per week from mid February until April
15th.
