How to Reserve Library Materials
If the books or other materials you need are not available when you visit your branch, you may reserve or place a "hold" on them. Residents of the area served by the San Joaquin Valley Library System may reserve most books and materials (except reference books and special items) held by any other branch in the System. These will be shipped when available to the branch of your choice and you will be notified either by mail or by phone.
If you have access to the Internet you may search the catalog shared by the public libraries in the San Joaquin Valley Library System. You'll need a PIN (personal identification number) in addition to the barcode number from your library card to reserve books over the Internet.

Suspending materials on holdSo many great books to read; so little time!
Do you find you just don't have enough time to read all the books you reserve from the library?
Now you can suspend your Holds Request until a more convenient date. Suspending a request temporarily defers it until you decide to activate it again. This feature is useful if you have a large number of requests or requests for a series and you don't want them to all arrive at once or in the wrong order. Its also useful if you are going on vacation and dont want to miss any of your requests that might arrive while youre gone. You wont lose your place on the waiting list and you wont miss out on your favorite titles. To suspend a Holds Request, go to www.fresnolibrary.org. Log into My Account. Click Hold Requests. Pick a Suspend Until Date, check mark one or more titles and click Change Status. For further information, contact your local branch library.
